Live Well Omaha Kids

A Good Idea

Description

The mission of Live Well Omaha Kids is to help all children living in Omaha achieve improvements in nutrition and physical activity by creating environments that support positive behavioral changes and healthy living.

This program aims to improve neighborhood safety, support youth enrichment programs, and ensure access to affordable and healthy foods at the neighborhood level. Various on-going programs have been developed that engage children in physical activity either directly or indirectly and a social marketing campaign that promotes healthy eating and physical activity has been launched. In addition, Live Well Omaha Kids is making efforts to create policies that support healthy lifestyles and is working to improve features of the built environment that may serve as barriers to physical activity.
